I wrote a post a few days back about the Fish! Philosophy. One of the practices of Fish! is to Be There!
We need to be present. In the moment. Listening. Paying attention to the one we are in front of. We will help the person we are talking to by giving them our undivided attention, but do we ever stop to think about what that could do for us?
Eric Schmitt-Matzen who looks like Santa and portraits Santa at Christmas, got a call from a nurse at a hospital letting him know that a very sick five year old boy wanted to see Santa. Eric chose to be there for that little boy, and his life will never be the same.
For me, I wept when I read the story and watched the video of Eric’s account and I believe God showed up in a Santa suit.
Thank you Eric for being there.
